Oo De Lally

One of my favorite cartoon movies is Disney’s Robin Hood. After seeing it several times with my kids I started using the phrase, “Oo de lally” to express surprise or delight and it stuck. My 4 year-old and 2 year-old adopted the phrase too and it makes me laugh every time I hear them say it.

Apparently I’m not the only one who likes the movie. Andy Baio dug up several translations on YouTube to see how they handled “Oo de lally” in their native tongue. A few left it alone. Others changed it completely. The Spanish version became “¡Que día más feliz!”

Andy’s still looking for the Chinese or Japanese versions if you happen to have access.
