4 Gmail Lab Features You Can’t Live Without

My wife glanced at my browser the other day and said, “Hey, I want that!”

She was referring to the embedded Google Calendar in the sidebar. I realized some of you may not be aware of the new features Gmail has been rolling out in the form of Lab features.

Here’s a rundown of my top four.

1. Google Calendar gadget – Keeps you aware of upcoming events during the day. You can select the calendars to show and even display a mini calendar.

2. Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat – Keep up with your friends when you don’t have your cell phone handy (or if you got rid of yours)

3. Navbar drag and drop – Organize the sidebar just the way you want it by dragging the elements around.

4. Forgotten Attachment Detector – Never forget to attach a file again. This is hit or miss. Sometimes it thinks I forgot one when I didn’t, but I’m okay with that. I don’t like sending “here’s the attachment I told you I was sending in my previous email” messages.
