WordPress 2.2.1 released

WordPress 2.2.1 was released today. It is a required upgrade and not just a bug fix release because a few security issues were found in 2.2.

Thanks to my handy-dandy upgrade script, this site has already been upgraded.

  1. What upgrade script do you use?

  2. I wrote it. It just does the the steps outlined in the instructions, but the fact that it’s automated means I don’t have to worry about forgetting to back it up, or to fix permissions on a directory or whatever. I doubt it would work in other environments, but I’d be happy to send it to you so you can see how it works and perhaps apply it to your own environment. With the number of releases there have been, it’s saved me quite a bit of time.

  3. Um, that sounds like a great script. Any chance you’d share it with me?

  4. It’s specific to my server setup so I don’t know how much use it will be to you, but check your inbox.
