A different kind of intelligence test

I’ve updated my riddles and brain teasers pages to make it easier to view the answer and I added more of them. There are a few that I don’t know the answer to, so feel free to take a crack at them and let me know if you figure it out.

I don’t have answers for riddle 66, brain teaser 30, brain teaser 32.

I also created two new pages that I’ve had in the works for a while but was waiting until I had time to make them better. I’ve recently learned that it’s smarter to do something, even if it’s not as good as you want it to be instead of waiting until you can do it perfectly. Once you’ve done it, you can always go back and improve on it, but at least it’s out there. As a result, I now have lateral puzzles and party games pages in the entertainment section.

While I was searching for new brain teasers and riddles I found this intelligence quiz on which I scored 10/13. I disagree with their answer to the pills question because it’s ambiguous, but the rest of them are pretty good. Make sure you’re answering the question that’s being asked.

  1. I also got 10/13. I missed the pills question…and agree that it was ambiguous. I also was tricked by the Moses question and missed the math question, which really chaps my hide since I think I’m good at math!

  2. I missed the math question as well, along with the blasted daughters question. I feel so sheepish.

  3. I got 12, remembering to be very careful – the daughters got me too.

Anyway, Dan, all these years I’ve used your site and never done much browsing. I didn’t know about the riddles and stuff. One thing I thought of when I clicked the “Party Games” link and saw something different than expected, would be to have different games groups of people can play. This is more of an information page on activities (not tricks), but something like that would come in handy for me at times. Some group games:
    “Scum”
    “Spoons”
    “Signs”
and I have some others I know, but many I don’t remember.

  4. How long have you been at this site? Nice work!

I don’t think you’re the only one. A lot of people just know about the blog and not the rest of the site. Plus I haven’t updated most of the other pages in a while, so that doesn’t help. I plan on improving things, so any input you (or anyone else has) is very much appreciated.

Your list of games reminded me of Mafia. I’ll add some more to the list.

P.S. Do all your group games need to start with the letter s? :)

  5. I noticed the ‘s’ pattern too and chuckled, then thought of another game, started writing it, noticed it started with an ‘s’ also, and figured I’d have some fun. A non-s game I was going to enter, which was fun, is “After the manner of the Adverb.” The way it is played is as follows:

One guy goes outside and the rest of the group picks an adverb.

The outsider comes in and picks a person/persons to act out a scenario of the outsider’s choice, after the manner of the adverb. Ex) If I were the outsider I would come in and ask you to play golf after the manner of the adverb. If the adverb were ferociously, you would have to act like you’re playing golf ferociously, and I would have to guess what the adverb is by what you do. If the outsider doesn’t get the adverb after the first scenario is acted out, he/she can ask others to act out different scenarios after the manner of the adverb.

  6. Cameron, that sounds like a fun game. I think I’ll bring it up at our next family gathering. Thanks!

  7. Cameron: I’ve added several party games (including several you mentioned) to the list. Thanks for the ideas.

katie: Agreed. Let me know how it goes. ;)

  9. can’t remember the answer to this riddle… How is it possible to take 1 from 9 and get 10?

  10. IX = 9, taking one away leaves you with X = 10.

  11. I SCORED A PERFECT SCORE ON THE QUIZ!!!! Your brain teasers helped me figure them out because I have done almost all of them. The pill one was a little weird but I’ve done a problem like that before. I think they just wrote the question wrong…
