There was a braingle brain teaser based on the claim that hot water freezes faster than cold water, known as the Mpemba effect, but I found out that there’s quite a bit of controversy on the veracity of the claim.
There was also quite a bit of discussion on the braingle web site itself.
The answer seems to be, “it depends.”
That has been an on-going debate in my family for years! Except, we didn’t discuss Vodka from the tap – boy were we missing out! Anyway, your conclusion really sums up the conundrum, thanks – uh, I think?
