it’s not just google anymore

The next time you’re searching for something on the web, you may want to stop by Phil Bradley’s list of sites to find information. It’s a list of sites he uses on a regular basis when he’s looking for different types of information and there are quite a few sites on that list that are new to me.

Before Google existed, I regularly used several different search engines and directories, continually trying to get the best results. I used Yahoo, AltaVista, Excite, NorthernLight and LookSmart, to name a few.

Then Google came along and after a while, I used it almost exclusively, but that’s no longer the case. Google is not always the best solution for finding information on the web and that’s a good thing, because it will force them to continue innovating if they want to stay on top and we as users will benefit from those innovations.

  1. Before, I used google, I used to use NorthernLight, I was fairly happy with it utnil I used Google. I was blown away by what Google had to offer some four years back? Surprisingly, I kinda like MSN Search now. So far now, it’s been that anything that I couldn’t find via Google was found by me using MSN Search.

  2. I’ve heard good things about MSN search. I’ll have to try it out next time Google’s results don’t satisfy me.
