a new search engine in the works

Snap is a new search engine (still in Beta) that’s joining the fray of Google competitors. The tour is helpful to understand how the site works. I must say it’s the search engine with the largest font for search phrases. It’s huge!

One of the main features they advertise is the ability to order the search results, giving “the results you really want.” It looks promising, especially when searching for products like digital cameras or laptop computers. It’s worth a look at least, although it’s going to take a lot to dethrone the current reigning king.

It was developed by Idea Lab, creators of Cars Direct.

  1. I checked out snap, the results were good but a lot slower than what we are now used to with Google. Would have been fantastic if the results were served as fast as Google.

  2. Hey on the seconds thought let me retract from my earlier statement, what makes Snap unique is that they serve a handful of results in one go. I got 132 results displayed in the most unique way and I was able to view them by just scrolling my mouse scroll. This was great and what was even greater is that my site was positioned 7th which is good. (My sites is 1st in most of SE for very generic terms)

  3. Looks good, though not something that I would use for now as it is a bit too slow IMO.
