the doctor sends men to hospital

A Chinese martial arts expert known as “the doctor” was attacked by four guys and tied up with two of his friends. The thieves ransacked the apartment and, unsatisfied with what they found, threatened the prisoners. Remarkably, the doctor managed to escape and turned the tables on the criminals, killing two and seriously wounding a third. He is now in police custody, facing charges.

Should he be freed or does he deserve to be punished for killing two men?

Here’s the full story from the Guardian.

  2. Cameron, when you said that the link was sick, I thought you meant that there was going to be lots of bloody pics and descriptions of the carnage left behind by the Doctor. :) I didn’t realize until I clicked on the link that you meant the link doesn’t work.

  3. Here’s that link http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/10/13/1065917343002.html

One of the guys was found dead sprawled out on the street which means the “Doctor” must of chased him out there and killed him, or I guess he could of been stabbed inside the house and then ran out to the street and died. If the latter is the case then I think the punks got what they deserved. But if he chased the guy out into the street and stabbed him, I think the “Doctor” crossed the line from self defense to being the agressor.

Either way, they picked the wrong guy to mess with. I wish I would of kept up my karate lessons when I was a kid!

  4. Sorry about the broken link. It’s fixed now.

John: That’s a good point. I would imagine that’s what the investigation is trying to determine.

  5. The Dr had a right to protect himself and his home. Of course, it would have been better if he just injured the theives, but then they might have turned around and sued him for damages. It’s a tough one and I’m sure glad I don’t have to be the judge.

  6. Give him probation and require community service in the form of him teaching others how to defend themselves against real criminals.

The more that goes on the more I support vigilantes.

  7. I like Renee’s idea. Someone once told me that if someone breaks into your house, and you do not kill them (in self defense), but only would them, you are liable. Hard call.
