peter and the wolf

When I was a child I used to love listening to Peter and the Wolf (on a vinyl record) while following along in the book. I was listening to a CD of the music at work and discovered that I’m not the only one who enjoyed listening to it as a kid. The only difference is that the one I grew up with was the original, written by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. The other folks who knew about it remember the one that was released ten years later by Disney, who made a movie based on Sergei’s story. They named the animals but I’m told the music stayed the same. Ironic that Disney won’t permit others to use their creations, isn’t it?

  1. I am looking for a copy of the Peter and the Wolf narrated by Boris Karloff. I want to give it to my Sister for her birthday. She has breast cancer and emphysema but is very active and reminiscing about her childhood right now. We listened to this almost every day as children.

  3. I am looking for a “peter and the Wolf” recording (CD) that can be narrated by someone other than a person on the CD. Is there sucah a recording?

  4. On the old record I had, side A had the narration and side B had just the music. What you’re basically looking for is an unnarrated recording and I know they exist. You can probably find it on Amazon by searching for ‘peter and the wolf’.

  5. The other day in Recital hour at school, the orchestra performed Peter and the Wolf along with narrations. I grew up listening to the Disney version and was very disappointed with the original version. I almost fell asleep. I missed the Sonya the duck, Sasha, the bird, and Ivan the cat.

  6. I have the DVD of Disney’s Peter and the Wolf and I’m looking for the book which my son enjoyed reading and which I would now like to read to my grandson. Any sale or exchange possible ? or even photocopying. Since both the book and the movie are sold out Walt Disney’s croonies shouldn’t mind.
