For my daily blog reading I often use Opera‘s nifty Ctrl+Shift+Click feature to open each link in the background. I go to my blogroll and click on a bunch of links and they each get their own window. Of course, the first blog in the list has a decided advantage, but dive into mark is almost always the first one to finish loading. His site is hosted by cornerhost and although speed isn’t everything, having a zippy connection is a big plus. I haven’t done a web host comparison like I’ve been meaning to do, but cornerhost will definitely be on the list of hosts to evaluate.
The size of the page will also affect how fast it loads, but today it was 71k while a.wholelottanothing.org, the number one blog, was only 14k. That makes it even more impressive.
With blogs and blogging, of course. I don’t see a tracker graphic on your page, did you find an invisible one or are you just not using one for the moment?
Obsessed seems a bit extreme. I just noticed that a page was coming up quickly and was surprised because it’s hosted by a relatively small company that I wouldn’t expect to have tons of bandwidth.
As far as logging, I’m using awstats at the moment but it doesn’t have very good daily stats, just monthly. I’ll have to look around some more.
I switched to tulipstats, which is basically the same back-end software as bigtracker. The graphic is ugly, but at least it’s not animated. Of course, I don’t get many visitors when I don’t update, but I’ve been busy lately… ;)
You probably got addicted to blogging in college. The addiction grew and grew until it consumed your every thought and eventually caused you to drop out. Admit it! You’re a college drop out!!
