installing flash and shockwave

I just sent an email to someone explaining how to install Flash and Shockwave for Mozilla on Windows 98/NT/2000/XP and I figured I should post it so others could benefit from it.

Step 1
Download the Flash installer

Step 2
Download the Shockwave installer

Note: In case you need ones for a different OS, there are lots of options to choose from. If you’re doing this for Mozilla, you want the Netscape Only under Windows for both Flash and Shockwave.

Step 3
Close your browser.
(It might be a good idea to cut and paste this text somewhere so you can still follow the instructions.)

Step 4
Once the installers have downloaded, double click on the Flash installer and
it should display the version of Mozilla that you have installed. Keep hitting “Next” through the menus and voila.

Step 5
With the Shockwave installer you do the same thing, but it will open a browser window to a web site where it downloads the rest of the Shockwave player.

Step 6
To make sure it’s working, you can use the following sites:

Macromedia test page
Mozilla test page
