I need to get my schedule back to normal. I went to bed at about 5am and woke up at 12:30pm. I’m probably going to have a hard time getting to sleep tonight too. I was going to go see Spider-Man last night but the only show left was at 12:05am and I had to be back to work by then to help a support guy in the Netherlands. We figured out that the kernel he had is the culprit. It’s not the kernel itself, because we can run a stock 2.4.18 kernel and it works fine. It’s one of the patches they added and the 3Gig malloc is our prime suspect. It’s nice to know what the problem is, but solving it may not be as pleasant.
If you’re planning on doing any sort of Java servlet work stay away from JServ at all costs. It’s not being actively developed and we’ve had numerous problems with it than any other part of what we ship. Although I haven’t used it myself, it sounds like Jakarta Tomcat is the way to go.
