depression amongst Utahns / joy in wireless

A national study showed that Utah leads the nation in antidepressant use. Frankly, I’m not surprised. I’m a member of the LDS (Mormon) church and I’ve lived in Utah from 1994-1995 and then from 1997 until now. I’ve found that most people assume that they are the only ones feeling overwhelmed by everything they’re supposed to do. I don’t agree with Fred M. Riley, commissioner of LDS Family Services when he, dismisses suggestions that the Mormon religion imposes any expectation of perfection. It’s very easy to think that you have to do it all yourself. Heck, it’s even in scripture: “Be ye therefore perfect…”.

On a totally unrelated note, I’ve been reading about some news in the wireless world and it sounds like Verizon and Sprint PCS are rolling out their third generation services which don’t need line of sight, but are also much slower than the current 802.11b. The sentence High-speed mobile Net access is on the way makes me feel all happy inside.
