The real Willy Wonka factory
While chomping nerds I noticed that they were made by the Willy Wonka Candy Factory in Itasca, IL 60143. I loved the movie (with Gene Wilder) and wondered if the factory might be visible from Google Maps. Maybe it had been made to look like it did in the movie and was a tourist attraction.
I was disappointed to find nothing but a dull gray building.
hi i need to know the address to the willy wonka factory. please tell me it.
According to Google Maps, it’s:
Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory
1445 Norwood Ave
Itasca, IL 60143
(630) 773-0267
I want to go visit the Willy Wonka Factory Can you send me pictures of how it looks inside and outside I would Greatly Apreciate it, Jessica
Jessica: I wouldn’t mind visiting there myself, but I’ve never been there. What you see on Google maps is all I’ve seen of it.
Im doing a school project and have chosen willy wonka chocolate factory and i would like some pictures. Thanks
Send them an e-mail asking for some pictures of the factory.
I would like to know if there is a nearby address for the “Wonka Factory” near Ohio and if so send me some e- mails because im doin a project in school and i need the address and some pics thank you for your coperation
sarah
I have always been a really big fan of the movie Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, and have always been curious as to whether or not there was a real chocolate factory.
I would really like for you to send a picture of the real Willy Wonka to me. I really would appreciate it.
I live about 5 minutes from the factory in Itasca, IL. It is just a building in an industrial park. There is a large sign saying ‘Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory’, but nothing else exciting. I do not think there is a store or anything open to the public. A few years ago I drove by the building and got the really great scent of sweet tarts filling the air!
That’s too bad. They could make quite a bit of money by reproducing some of the things they had in the movie. I for one would love to have a swim in the chocolate like Augustus.
I am a girl scout leader of 12 girls that would love a tour of your factory. Is that possible?
Where id the real Willy Wonka Factory?
I don’t know the exact address, but it’s in Itasca, IL.Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory
1445 Norwood Ave
Itasca, IL 60143
(630) 773-0267
I am doing a letter to the wonka factory for my school and I want to know what to say in the letter. DO you have any ideas of what to say? I’d be happy to tell you what theey say in they’re response if I get one…
Becca: You’d know best what you want to say to them.
I would LOVE to inside the wonka factory. Can you please send me pictures of the factory. (inside and out.)I would also like to take a tour of the factory.
Rachel: I don’t have any pictures. If you take a tour take some pictures and I’ll post them here. I have a feeling it’s not like the movie.
So did your wife ever tour the chocolate factory? Ironically I met someone whose brother dated your wife’s sister or perhaps it was her sister dated your wife’s brother. It was small world kind of funny.
Nope, at least as far as I know. It’s a small world… :)
I live a few minutes from there. Not as exciting as one would expect THE Willy Wonka factory to be. It’s in the middle of an industrial/commercial park. Not sure if you can tour it
@Jamie Thanks for the information. I’m surprised they haven’t created some sort of tourist attraction there. I know I’d love to visit something half as sweet (pun intended) as what we saw in the movie!
i love his chocolate yes i do
is it really a real factory that still runs and produces stuff? i wanna noe if this was based on a true story will might have a had a few twists.
@elizabeth As far as I know the factory is just another factory that makes candies, not anything related to the movie. I wouldn’t be surprised if the factory was created after the movie as a way to capitalize on its popularity.
My dad is the owner of the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. I can get anyone in for free if I am able to meet them.
oh and It’s not like the movie inside but it’s pretty close. Of course in the movie they addes Special Effects but I mean they did a pretty damn good job on the real thing. Oh and there really is a chocolate waterfall and a edible room too. The flavored wall isn’t there though. The elevator is glass and it does go to every room as well.
im doing a project in school about willy wonka and if i could have any thing like pictures or info i would love that…
This message is for KANDI. I used to work @ the wonka factory and there’s an employee there that i lost contact with. I was wondering if you could help me out. please contact me @ kjmalee@yahoo.com. I’d really appreciate it if you could help me.
i know his phone number if you want to know it email me at bbutrfillllllllllllllll jk
Hi Dan – My son just had the exact same experience as you. He was eating the Nerds, etc. Did a web search and – nada. No I am not going to ask you for pictures of the factory :-) You have been more polite than I would with all the mis-directed posts! I seem to recall “Wonka” candy back in the ’70’s after the first movie came out. Don’t know why they wouldn’t want to capitalize on the theme park angle as well! Thanks for the site!
Keaty: Thanks for the comment. It’s refreshing to hear from someone who understands I don’t have any pictures of it :)
i love willy wonka’s candy. i’ve never had a chocolate bar before.
I’ll be going up to Illinois this summer around my Birthday to visit my grandparents, and we’re looking for something to do. I’ve been looking (almost) all my life for a site that might give me info on tours, public events, etc.
(Kandi, if your Dad is really owner, could you help a guy out? Please?)
Does Anyone actually know if there was a real boy named willy wonka?Or What His Real Name Was? I would love to know more about his real life story and how he really got started in the whole “Chocolate Business”
There is no willy Wonka. The book was not based on a real person. The movie, Willy Wonka and the chocolate Factory, was actually made to promote a chocolate bar, which ended up failing, but the movie was a success. The Wonka brand of candy, to my knowledge, doesn’t make chocolate, they make things like nerds, and sweetarts.
is the factoy tour-able??
I don’t believe so.
Too Late.
I wonder if they have a real edible room and real oompa loompas
Willie Wonka factory how much would it cost to get a cost to get a tour in the hole factory please email me back ?
Wow, I’m doing a school project on nerds from willie wonka.
And…well I need samples to share with the class because if i dont i get a B and i want an A. I could buy them but I’m just waiting to find out if i actually can get samples. If “Kandi” really is related to the owner it would be nice if you could email me at fudgedude12@yahoo.com
that cant be the real adress the factory is not free to the public nor is the adress
hi i am tay if you really have what the real willy wonka has invite the whole woodland forrest to your wonderful place and also verner elementary schools please thankyou.
wow some of these people are really stupid. THE REAL WILLY WONKA FACTORY IS A PLAIN GREY BUILDING WITH NOTHING COOL ABOUT IT!!!!
I honestly am stunned at how unintelligent people are. Kandi (who doesn’t exist) is full of crap and her dad doesn’t own the Wonka Candy Co. Come on people, are your lives that miserable and desparate? For the love of God!
whats willie wonks zip code
does all his candy come from the same place
is that his real name
WOW its amazing to me that people actually think this kandi girl is real. If you bozo’s haven’t figured it out yet, SHE’S MADE UP. Just thought I’d let yall know if you haven’t figured it out yet :)
hi my name is ryan

latinamami40@yahoo.com.love for my grandon to see it
@maria The actual Willy Wonka factory is a drab manufacturing building, not the chocolate wonderland portrayed in the movie.
Is the Willy Wonka Factory in Itasca a real place for tour etc?? I want to have a candy party for my daughter 6th birthday party and would really love to have it there..But Not sure if it’s open to the public for events. Would love to know I have called the number and no one has answered i’m thinking about taking a ride there to find out!
Nope, it’s just “a drab manufacturing building, not the chocolate wonderland portrayed in the movie.”
That really sucks!!!! They should turn it into a place for people to go to that would be so FUN!! And it would make so much money! Oh well does anyone know of a candy factory store in the area for have parties at?? I really want to do that for my daughters birthday this year! Any help would be great Thanks :)
I agree, they could make it a big tourist spot.
I noticed someone was advised to send an email to the Willy Wonka Factory re their inquiry. Where does one get that email address?
thanks
@Towanda I have no idea. They may not have one.
I would real love to. Go see the real factory.and I wanna c how the chocolate is made.
ummm wow #1 kandi: your full of gooey brown puppy pooh!! your dad does not own willy wonka’s factory and if he did that doesn’t mean you could get away with inviting thousands of strangers to go there for free, girl get a effin life!! oh and I don’t remember who made the comment that the wonka candies :) doesn’t make chocolate…. well dipstick THEY DO!!! its call a wonka bar and im eating one at this very moment!! hit up a gas station or a grocery store… you’ll see them everywhere! geez some people are tardz :(
Hi Dan, so I was just wondering if there was any kind of address you could give me, my 4 year old son just wrote a letter to willy wonka after watching a commercial for the new chocolate bars and he really wants to mail it to him. i was hoping to actually mail it to maybe their customer service or something like that and that maybe, i know its wishful thinking, but they might mail him back something, anything-a picture, a card, a damn coupon for all i care :) but i would like to actually send it to someone…i know everyone’s bombarding you for pictures and such and i was on the website and did a search for the address..maybe you could help me out…thanks a lot!
@Melissa Try this contact info.

Itasca, IL,

i really want to go c the willy wanka choaclate factory… but its to far awau in live in north carolina
yes I too would think they would make at least a torism part of it for everyone to see why dont they do that? that seems a little silly to make a movie and then have a factory to be plain and boreing. I would love to see a willy wonky factorty like the movie or close to it. I love chocolate and the movie was great too. maybe we should send them a pateion..
I want to know if Willy Wonka really exist? If the story in the movies or in the books are based on real life I love Willy Wonka thanks
There is a company that makes chocolate, but the movie took some liberties with reality.
They could also make a ton of cash by putting “golden”tickets in there chocolate bars with prizes!!
No kidding. Anyone who watched the movie as a kid would be all over that.
The movie was filmed at an industrial building somewhere in Germany. The real factory is nothing like the movie, but the edible room WAS real. Most edible items (like the flower Willy ate) were just plain wax. He even spit it out after the scene ended.
Willy Wonka is my favorite person and i would like if he put golden tickets in the rapper and if i would have been like charlie and got a ticket i would be so happy.
love u WILLY WONKA
i love this story. it is all about chocolate. who would not like chocolate in this world impossible.
i was eating neards too
its sad i cant see him :( i love willy wonka :) the movie is so so cool. i want to see the real Willy Wonka.
WILLY WONKA IS REAL.

Sincerely,
Meghna Vemuri
Hi, is willy wonka a real person? Is the factory i saw in the movie real? What are you? A millionaire or billionaire or trillionaire? tell me. How old are you? how many people visit your factory a day?
How many dollars does it take to get in the factory?
@Mamadou Nope, he’s not real.
Course I’m real kids don’t believe these silly people who don’t believe in me, but I can’t stay in any one place at once or the evil doers would want to steal my scrummy recipies for my scrummy sweets.
Be good kids.
Hah! Good one Willy :)
while it seems great to visit the factory…we must always remember…
“Nobody goes in and nobody ever comes out”
I never liked reading but this has shown me the importance of English class. There are so many repeated questions on this page it’s ridiculous. And apparent you guys haven’t heard of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, whose creativity is apparently being wasted.
Dan, you looked at a pack of nerds and somehow became the leading authority on everything Wonka, and for that, I feel sorry for you.
Also THERE ARE NO TOURS OF THE FACTORY
“WONKA®: Can I visit the Willy Wonka Candy Factory?
The Willy Wonka Candy Factory is dedicated to producing the highest quality candies that you would expect from Willy Wonka and Nestlé. Because of this commitment to quality, as well as safety, we do not provide public factory tours.”
http://www.nestleusa.com/PubFAQ/FAQs.aspx
The proof’s in the pudding that Wonka does not make.
@Mike At least someone reads the comments before commenting :) I posted this four years ago and it’s still chugging along, all because of a box of nerds. Thanks for the link to their FAQ.
1. Your jokes suck almost as much as you do.
2.Changing from two jokes to only one, makes me mad. Kids have dreams of coming home from a rough day of first grade and amusing themselves with a FEW Laffy Taffy jokes, but no lets get all cheap and save money and only have one joke. You suck. This sucks.
I demand an immediate change in this matter before I take further legal actions.
Have a fantastic day Mr Wonka
@Nan That’s a lot of sucking.
I was wondering does THE WILLY WONKA Factory have scheduled tours and if so how much does it cost to tour the factory. Please email me back with a response.
@Kristin While you were typing the comment, the answer was right on your screen in Mike’s comment. Please folks, read the comments before asking the same questions over and over again.
I was just wondering what the actually factory was that was used in the movie and where it was located at. thank you
@Deborah It was most likely a temporary set created for the movie.
pls, if any one hs gone der plz send de picz..i hv tried alot to get few picz on de net, but NO! plz…………………
sms_bspl@hotmail.com
i love wonka sweets but i really want you to make more wonka bars please
sell them in every store like in all of the American stores.
like in New York and Switzerland.
please sale more wonka bars.
Wonka candies are real good. There is no such person called Willy Wonka you dumb—–. They just took up the name after the movie for more publicity.
I work there it’s a normal candy factory… and we do not produce chocolate
the real wonka factory that was used in the original is located in munich, germany, where the movie was filmed.
it is now the munich gaswerks, located at 10 emmy-noether-str.
hope this helped you. :)
also here is a vid of then and now shots…
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1049901/the_wonka_factory_then_and_now/
Thanks for the clarification.

I wonder if the factory is as big as it is in the movie charlie and the chocolate factory, and can they post pictures of the factory.
Haha Dan holy cow man I feel sorry for you. Somehow your comment seemed to instantly attract the most ignorant group of people ever conceived. I was literally laughing out loud at the level of stupidity some comments generated and at one point was in near disbelief that a human being who actually knew how to function would ask some of the questions some of these people have, especially when you had just answered their very questions. What made it even greater was not once did you reply in anything but a civil manner. You never suggested that they go back to the first grade and learn to read. You always just calmly replied the answer to their questions. Dan I can definitely say this thread just made my day. Oh
but just one question, could you send me some pictures of the factory? I’m sure you have an intimate relationship with Willy Wonka himself and could get me some photos of the chocolate room. ;) Haha just kidding stay awesome man!
@Aaron Thanks for the comment, I got a good laugh :) By the way I found out about a Wonka Golden Ticket promotion but it has already ended.
Hi, My name is, Derek. I was amazed when I have seen the, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (1971) Movie. I was -6 (Negative Six) years at the time. “LOL” But, with my expirence of observing the architecture and engineering characteristics including the 3D graphics in the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005) movie compared to the 1971 Movie, I’m not sure if anything equivalent could top the, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie. If I was able to win the State lottery in the county where I live in, along with my 4 year computer science degree I’m studying in school, I would be able to use the money and my skills to replicate the factory based on the movie, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” if, I was given copyright permission from their respective owners who made the, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie to do that. I then, would turn it into an actual factory tour theme park for everyone. (Golden Ticket not required to get in)
He, He, Ha, Ha!! Derek (03-21-2011)

ITS NOT REAL DUH GROW UP!!!!
Love Love Love chocolate! $) $)
yayyyyy!!!!!!!!
@ kandi. Can you send me some pictures of what the inside of the factory looks like? Please , thank you very much . Email me at cheried619@yahoo.com
It is clearly a production facility built to produce foods… Normal facilities do not allow random visitors to stop by for a tour… It is against GMP’s (if you don’t know what GMP’s mean google it)
It any of those comments about pictures and other things are true.. wow..
and don’t meet up with random people on the internet.. that person is probably some creep who will kidnap people..
I read a book in reading and I think it would be fascinating to see the. Factory
i love your chocolate i do hi bye
please tell me all about the factory
LMAO i was chomping nerds too and had the same brain fart. i just googled it and here i am

(864)426-1090! Thanks
So, I read each & every post! I cannot believe some posts either. However, I have 5 kids and the only reason we allow them on the net, is to research something they don’t know about or to play games. This being said, to many of whom have been extrodinarily rude, please understand, children (those whom appear to be of less keyboard & grammar literacy) it’s just a post, to which children view! If you don’t ask questions, you may never know the answers! Good day! And Dan, lots of props for dealing with the comments! LOL
@Brandi Thanks for your comment. My kids are still too young to be galavanting about the internet unaided, and it hadn’t occurred that many of the head-scratching comments could have been written by unsupervised young’uns whose reading and comprehension skills may still be developing. It seems fairly obvious now, especially given the subject matter ;)
please tell me where it is ( have to write business letter school )
@Ayesha See comment #2
I want to know if nestle and Willie wonkers are producing the shockers I am so usedf to loving. I can not find them in Peterborough, Ont. Canada any more. I love them and they are my staple. Please let me know by e- mail at cscw@sympatico.ca. It would kill me to know if they are not producing these any more.
I wouldn’t mind working at Willy Wonka Factory because I have some ideas that Wonka can do for new flavor candies and choclote bars. I will not post them online because I want Willy Wonka Factory to have those ideas and no one else. I can’t find Wonkas Candy in Eastern Oregon anymore but I would love to share my ideas to Willy Wonkas Factory.
i just wanted to kno if the real wonka factory is made of candy if its not i think they should remake the movie and put the real factory in it all it does is make me wonder i would love to tour it anyways…..
I would like to point out the chocolate factory is not in the US at ALL it is in Munich in Germany!!!!
@Thomas Are you saying the factory in the movie is in Germany or that there’s an actual Wonka factory in Munich?
Id love if they brought the wonka choccy bars back. I’m pregnant and all I crave is wonka choccy bars :( no other chocolate comes close to it.
F— you Willy Wonka for getting rid of Wacky Wafers!

@Alyssa It’s time you had a chat with your parents about Willy Wonka’s existence and about sharing personal information like your full birth date online.
Wonka factory’s are owned by Nestlé there no magical man behind the door
Even tho it would be amazing to have an exact replacer of the film even if not edable
And just for people to foresee the experience no ones dad owns willy wonka may manage but look through the net and you will see Nestlé own the wonka brand xx
Wonker factory address through this addess……. 39 ramsey road PE26 2XN
I been there and all there was is a candy place and it was awsome
I got a golden ticket where abouts is itasca?
Is there an elevator like the glass flying elevator that Willie and Charlie flew over the city? And, is the chocolate good? We like the part of the movie when the girl is hauled down the garbage shoot by the squirrels.
Thanks!
@matt It’s in Illinois
@Lisa No, the glass elevator was pure fiction. The company seems to produce far more candy than chocolate. I don’t know if I’ve had Willy Wonka’s chocolate.
I love the movie – it’s one of my favorites.
The Willa wonka factory is mostly empty I went ther and nothing at all just a sign it’s just not exciting
Is real thats ther wonka lonkas that work for willy wonka
@Declyn No, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was not a documentary.
Sorry to burst anyone’s candy bubbles but i do believe that there erwas neve r mmrrever
It’s the old gas works location in Munich there is no actual factory. The gate is still standing but the rest has been demolished.
It’s the old gas works location in Munich there is no actual factory. The gate is still standing but the rest has been demolished. The address is 10 Emmy Noether Straße (street) Köln, Munich, Germany
Hi, my son has just got a golden ticket out of a Wonka Bar -is this for real or do they all have them in but it says go to the factory on 1.2.13 As we live in the UK this would be very expensive for no reason, I’m assuming these tickets are in every pack and it is a joke…….any (sensible0 comments welcome please
@shiley That’s the first I’ve heard of it. It could be a practical joke.
Oh my Lord… where to start!!! 1st off @ Dan, you are truly a good person for responding to alot of these idiots! Lets just be honest people… Dan really could be a mean person or a internet perv, but he is not! Alot of children ask questions on this site just like if it were about Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny and yet not one time has Dan been disrespectful nor a perv. So with that I appreciate that. Now #2 besides the children…Take note to READ FIRST! We are taught that in school. Dont ask the same questions that’s already here! It is ONLY A MOVIE…PERIOD PEOPLE!! Nevertheless thank you Dan for making my day because I had tears in my eyes reading a laughing historically at alot of the idiotic comments and questions. Especially when the lady said she was going to get a lawsuit against u for finding plastic in the candy unless you emailed her
@Cyndy We’ve had quite a run of comments here, haven’t we? It’s been almost six years since I posted this. I’m glad you had a good laugh :)
Very funny posts, hope Kandi never lured anyone with HIS meet me and ill show you trick, Jesus the internets scary, probly a 40 yr old dude.
The factory from the movie is in Munich Germany.
@Walt I agree. I can only hope that parents are keeping an eye out for their kids on the grand ol’ internet.
i would like to see the factory my-self! but where is it? i’ve seen so many Wonka candy!
Are people aloud in willy woka factory
@Bobby No, just oompa loompas. Hah, I kid. Yes, people are allowed as employees but they don’t give tours.
do yall ever send candy if they send u something from a school or something that askeds or give a idea
Is anyone reading this. Mr. Wonka i would
Love to sample ur candy it is very delicious
Can I have a free tour. Thanks
@Homer Judging from your name I’d guess this is a joke, but in case it’s not, and for the benefit of anyone else who may be reading, Mr. Wonka is not a real person.
I saw the movie and I have it. But I want to see it inside and out. CAN you please send pictures.
I wonder if they have most of the stuff from the movie in the factory. Like WONKA-VISON. I wonder if there is going to be a competition in geting the golden tickets.
I really enjoy watching the movie every time it comes on no matter what I am doing I go into my bedroom and watch it.so I love to know where the Willy Wonka factory is at and if they do tours I have been watching it since I was a young child. Can you please let me know this would be a great present for me if they do any tours in may.I guess the child inside of me will always be with me even though as we get older.I will be 50. at the end of this month. Thank you
@barb They don’t do tours because it’s just a dull manufacturing location, not a magical chocolate wonderland.
Where do I get an oompa Lumpa?
@Jody In Loompa-Land of course. Just be careful of the Whangdoodles, Hornswogglers, and Snozzwangers.
did anyone get pictures from inside?
i heard the real factory was in germany, munich but its not there anymore
@glen What do you mean by the real factory? The one you saw in the movie?
my husband has seen the factory used in the movie btw love he movie
the*
the factory in the beginning is in Switzerland. my husband is from there and seen it. it’s just a plain old factory.
why in the hell did NESTLE,,stop making the great WONKA CHOCOLATE BAR…I mean come on,who didn’t get hungry after watching the movie..my kids go crazy for a wonka bar after the movie..and it hurts to tell them”THEY DONT MAKE THEM ANYMORE”…thanx NESTLE for screwing all the kids out of a WONKA CHOCOLATE BAR!!!!!!!!!!
whatever happened to the everlasting gobstoppers in a two pack that were big, do they sell those anymore in the United States
Hi. I liked the movie but I liked the people in the movie and the the different settings in the movie. The part that I liked the most was when the last boy won.
Hey dan.this is a funny site. I just found an am watching get this:willy wonka. Some of these people. Boy oh boy. I do have to say though you’ve been great. It’s Christmas and am having a hard time. You just made me laugh out loud. If you are reading this, then you know I am not asking that question. Thanks for putting up this site. Too funny
I thought I did this already. Dan,this way too funny. You are very nice to answer the same questions over and over. I found this site by accident. Am watching willy wonka now. And no I am not going to ask any dumb questions. Just thought I’d let you know I think this is hilarious. As to how many of us want wonka to be real. When in reality, he’s not. It’s Christmas and I am having a hard time. So this site made my day. So, to you, I say thank you!
Can anyone visit the factory or get a tour of it
Yes anyone, as long as they bring an Oompa Loompa.
The factory is open
They don’t have to bring an Oompa Loompa
Your wrong Dan
@Willy Great! Drop by with your great glass elevator and I’ll update the post :P
