Survey says cell phones are annoying, but people still want to use them – Other people using their cell phones annoys people, but they still want to use one themselves. I wonder if it occurred to them that they are annoying others…
It costs less to retire on a cruise liner instead of a nursing home – There are a few variations of the idea, but it sounds like an interesting proposition. The snopes summary at the bottom posits that you would be lonely and unhappy, which is probably true for some, but there are plenty of others who would love it. Plus, who says you have to go alone? Take the whole retirement home with you!
Google Ads – Chris Pirillo of LockerGnome is making $10,000 a month. Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogs, Inc. made $45,000 in four months and other blogs within his company bring in $3,000. That’s some serious dough.

This reminds me of a survey conducted a few years ago about political incumbency. Voters notoriously voiced their concern about excessive incumbency rates in Congress, and felt that it was a negative. Yet, at the same time, they themselves overwhelmingly voted for their own incumbents. One proposed solution was to let voters vote for reps/senators for other states – the voters concern followed to logical conclusion. Basically they felt that other states shouldn’t keep voting in their incumbents, but their incumbent was justified.
Will: That’s an interesting point. The same is true of bad drivers. It’s commonly stated that there are lots of bad drivers on the road, but surveys show that most people say they’re good drivers.
Quick question… are you making money from adsense dan? I used to have an image hosting website that I sold… I made about $100 every 2 months from adsense. I am about to start a new blogging service that will use adsense. That would be amazing to pull in that much green a month!
Chad: I’m making money, but nowhere close to those amounts. The terms of service just changed to allow people to say how much they’re making, so I’ll give the numbers.
This site made about $40 in Jan, $50 in Feb and it looks like it will be about $50 for March.
My Coin collecting site made $230 in Jan, $560 in Feb and based on the current average it will break $700 in March.
Yea Weblogs Inc’s revenue from Adsense is the most I’ve heard so far. I hear that on an average day, they make around $600.
Adsense rocks, hands down. I hope I can live off of it. And we KNOW google will never be goin’ down!
I would love to live off of it someday, but I’m not as sure that Google will always be huge. Right now it seems as if no one can stop them, but there have been other huge companies that have died out. Only time will tell.
Regarding retiring on a cruise liner — I’ve seen it done. There was a woman on my cruise who was doing it. I didn’t talk to her myself, but she certainly didn’t look lonely. She always had a crowd of people around her, and the crew treated her kind of like family. You’d have to get used to not making any long-term attachments to people, but you certainly can’t beat the food!
Levi forgot to mention that the lady wore a blue and red flashing pin that would blind you when passing. Levi wasn’t fond of the frequent blinding attempts by the old lady so that may be the reason he didn’t talk to her.
There are lots of oldies who frequently cruise but don’t retire on a paticular ship. I must admit that I would rather live on land and cruise a lot.
