get smart
The story of Elizabeth Smart is being made into a movie. The producers couldn’t interview Elizabeth directly, so all of their questions were conveyed by her mother meaning the movie might not be entirely accurate. It seems wrong to capitalize on such an unpleasant ordeal, but I admit I’ll probably watch the movie.
You mean that the network has to improvise and make up the plot rather than tell the truth? The horror of it all! Say it ain’t so. Please, for the chicken’s sake tell me that it will be dramatic and heart wrenching. Yes, you can never have enough wrenches.
I used to think people who made these deals were greedy. But as I followed this story closely, it caused me to rethink that notion.
This ordeal would be made into a movie no matter what. It’s better for the Smarts if they have some input. Also, if anyone is going to profit from this, Elizabeth should get something. God knows she’s going to have to have therapy possibly for years. It’s going to impact her differently in each phase of her life – living on her own, marriage, children. Everything.
I doubt the Smart family will get much money from it. Movie producers don’t strike me as particularly philanthropic.
Better 100K in her pocket than some coked out producer.
Renee, what have you got against coked out producers? The poor things have all these things to worry about like… um. Well, they worry about… Hmmm. Wait a minute. Well, they worry about the rain forests and stuff, right? Save the whales! And the manatees, too! And they worry about which color “charity” ribbon to wear at award shows.
Oh wait. They also worry about where they’re gonna get more coke. ;P
I agree. ES should get money. I hope that, eventually when she’s better, she’ll be able write a book about it. That way she can get rid of all of the lies and half-truths these TV movies will have spread.
But if she does, people are going to say that she’s selling out. They’re going to say that she’s cashing in on her 15 minutes of fame. The media had just started saying that about her father before the whole family dropped out of sight and the media moved on.
In her case, I don’t think it’s selling out. I think it’s explaining what really happened.
Renee: I didn’t think she would get that much, but maybe you’re right.
Jan: I would love to hear what happened directly from Elizabeth, and writing a book might be therapeutic for her (later on I mean). I have no beef with people who write a book to explain what really happened in their lives.
I’ve got an even better idea. No books no friggin’ movies. We just leave her the heck alone and this is something that she shares with her therapist and family. Why should she feel obligated to get the truth out to the public? It’s none of the public’s business. If this happened to your daughter or yourself would you share it with the world, especially a world that feigns concern until the next interesting story comes along?
Okay, I Pray For All Missing Children.I Don’t Care What Missing Child Is On The News.Just If Their On The News, They Need To Be. So We Can Find them.Without God And The Media, Elizabeth Wouldn’t Be Here! I respect That She Needs Privacy. If I Were Abducted, I Would Write My Story And Try To Get It Published.Maybe I Would, Maybe Not.When She’s ready, She’ll Talk.I Have Blonde Hair And Blue Eyes Just Like Elizabeth. I Am Less Than a Year older Than Her,But I would Still Pray For Her If She Wanted Me To.We Should Pray For All Missing Children, Not Just The Blonde Ones.I Almost was Abducted A Couple Of Times.Somebody Tried To Get Me And My BF.And Somebody tried To Get Me And My Brother too.[I’m not sure, maybe.]Anyway, Lifetime Movie Network Has Shown Movies About Abducted Children, Such as, Evil Has A Face, and Every Mother’s worst fear.I Love Kids,I’m A People person.I’d Hate To See any Kid Get Hurt. That’s Why If Anybody Hurts My brother [15 years]My Parents will kick their Butt!So I won’t Have To.
