This is completely off topic. Let the flogging begin. You are missing a very good comic on your comics page. http://www.sluggy.com
That is all.

That is completely off-topic. I can’t believe how off-topic that is. Totally and unequivocally off the topic at hand. In fact, that’s so off-topic, it’s both shocking and astounding.
OW. Anyone have any flogging ointment? A tonic perhaps? Some flog Cream? So- have you checked into http://www.Sluggy.com yet? (now it is on topic, so take that you flogging flogger!!)

Actually, I’ve already seen Sluggy Freelance but I wasn’t too impressed. I prefer laugh-out-loud funny and it was a darker humor. I’ll take another look at it though.
By the way, you’re welcome to help yourself to some ointment to heal your sores.
You don’t like sluggy Freelance? You probably don’t like Xpilot either. It’s people like you that give people not like you a bad name.

How dare you doubt my love of X-Pilot. I am the DMOZ editor of the XPilot category and I have devoted hundreds of hours perfecting my game. Sluggy doesn’t deserve to be in the same sentence.
Do you mean perfecting your treasure run? The watered down version of Xpilot could hardly be considered the ‘game’. In fact, The removal of mines/missles/lasers/ecms/tractor_beams/fuel tanks/etc. from maps played on the majority of servers could be likened unto the removal of Xpilot’s heart. Yes- go ahead and cry. It is a sad story with an even sadder ending.

You have just chapped my hide. They removed the extra cruft that allowed newbies to win the game because of dumb luck. Now it requires hours upon hours of practice and only the true X-Pilots remain. (Ahem, except for me because I’m too busy, but I still feel the love). A high rank on a server means something now.
Here you go. A case of hide chapstick. Because something tells me, you’re going to need it. I feel (yes, that means I am stating this as my opinion and not as irrevocable all-encompasing truth) any game design that disallows ‘newbies’ from winning the game because of ‘dumb luck’ is a flawed game. If it happened often, it couldn’t be slated as ‘dumb luck’ but would indicate skill. A game that allows an unexperienced player (i.e. someone who does not spend hours and hours of practice) to still have sporadic success is an fun expierence for all participants. The variety of attack methods and the unpredicatbility of the game combine for a much higher level of recreation for all involved. Even then, those who were advid Xpilot’s tended to have better skills and therefore a much higher success rate. Your ‘precious’ ranking indicates that. Xpilot is now a stripped down, clique-ified, narrow version of the glory it once was.

Thank ye kindly for the hide chapstick.
I see your point, but by the same token, if you have devoted your life, even your entire existence to a game and then some scrubby kid can waddle in and beat you, that hurts. I would much rather have a game where skill is the #1 key to success rather than luck.
Yet another beauty of the game though is that you can make your own map, replete with mines, missiles, lasers, ECMs, tractor beams, and flying fuel tanks for the world to enjoy. Heck, you can even have a newbie hop onto your server and beat the snot out of you :)
