Personal Information:
Hi, I'm Dan Hersam, I was born in NH and call Exeter, NH home. I'm a
Computer Science major in my second year, and I love the Computer
Science program at BYU. I served a mission to Madrid Spain
for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 1995 to July 1997. I have always enjoyed working with
computers and I'm quite shocked at the incredible advances that have been made in the world of computers during the two years that I've been gone.
I'm very pleased to see that some things didn't change, such as Pine
and Pico, because I am a devout supporter of fast, no-mouse, text-based programs, like UNIX. I sang
first tenor in Men's Chorus my freshman year and enjoyed it immensely. I love music in general
and I especially enjoy playing the piano, guitar, harmonica and drums.
I am an avid fan of singer/songwriters such as Marc
Cohn, Kenny Loggins, Joshua Kadison, Billy
Joel, Phil
Collins, Elton John, Bruce Hornsby as well as many more.
Interests:
I've always had an interest in computers, and I love learning more
about
them. I'm an active Numismatist (coin collector)
and missed that hobby during my two year mission. Now that I'm back, I would love to talk to
any fellow coin collectors on the net. I can often be found looking at
the rec.collecting.coins newsgroup
and am a member of the American Numismatic
Association. I love New England in spite of the fact that I haven't
been able to spend much time there. My sports interests include all kinds,
but especially tennis, basketball,
volleyball,
table tennis and cycling.
