I often receive riddles from people who think that since I compiled a bunch of riddles on my site, I must be able to solve them. While not entirely logical, the practice has made me better at solving them.
I received one the other day that stumped me. The email said in part, “My friend gave it to me. I couldn’t tell whether it was a brain teaser or a math problem.” There was nothing else to go on.
Here’s the riddle.
Eat flush to my nose tree times for they buy dead by too.
Any ideas? I later found out the answer, but if I gave it away you won’t have any fun guessing 
I could probably come up with some different answers, but is it 4?

Eat = 8
Flush = plus
to = 2
my nose = minus
tree = three
times = times
for = 4
they buy dead by = divided by
too = 2
8 + 2 = 10
-3 = 7
*4 = 28
/2 = 14
The answer is arguably 4 if you consider the equation as a whole because of order of operations:
8+2-3*4/2 = 8+2-3*2 = 8+2-6 = 4

Eight plus two(10) minus 3 (7), times four (28) divided by two (14) = 14
