FBI’s Ten Most Wanted

The FBI is using widgets to enhance their search for the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives. The widget shown below is by ClearSpring.

I know very little about these men or their crimes, but I find it interesting that these men are on the list. Given the high number of murders in say, Chicago, murder alone doesn’t seem to warrant a place on the list. I wonder what makes these fugitives particularly dangerous. The rewards vary too. Six have a $100K reward. The other four rewards are for $200K, $1 million, $2 million and $27 million.

I’m not in any way condoning what any of these men did, but I’m curious how the reward amounts are determined. The man wanted for $1 million held up two security guards with a gun, then disabled them with an unknown, non-lethal substance. He got away with $7 million. Maybe the amount of money involved affects the reward amount.
