50 Ways to Leave Your Lover

The drum riff at the beginning of Simon and Garfunkel’s 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover was written by Steve Gadd, an accomplished drummer. I’ve had a recent interest in drums so I enjoyed watching Steve in this short video where he demos the riff. The dialog struck me as humorous. I’ve included it in its entirety.

Steve Gadd: “I’ll just, I’ll play the um, the high hat part by itself, okay?”
Other guy: “Mm hmm”

Maybe it’s just me, but that guy’s lack of enthusiasm and the way Steve stares at him (starting at 0:52) cracks me up.
