Do you speak Yankee or Dixie?

This quiz about how you say common English words made the rounds via email the other day.

The only problem is I’ve changed how I pronounce certain words. For instance, I used to say route as root. I realized that didn’t make as much sense as saying it so it rhymed with trout, so I switched. My end result was 48% Yankee.

Take the quiz to see how you speak.

  1. I recently took it and got 47% yankee. Interesting.

  2. I just realized (thanks to the related posts) that I already wrote about this test on a different site almost 4 years ago.

  3. Interesting! I’m 50% Yankee (barely there, I’m told). :)
