I saw an ad in my Gmail account the other day and it wasn’t very hard to tell that it was a scam. They claimed that out of 79 tools, 95.3% of them didn’t work. The problem is that no integer out of 79 equals 95.3%. 75 is the closest, but 75 out of 79 is 94.9%. So their claim is that 75.287 items worked. Interesting. What in the heck is .287 of an item?

When the ad is clearly false, it doesn’t take much to extrapolate that the product being advertised is likely a fabrication as well. If they can’t be troubled to make up a viable percentage, I find it hard to believe they actually tested 79 pieces of software.
