There are a few things I would like to address here. Things that a lot of people tend to forget. One, regardless of whether anyone believes in the bible or not, is gay, of another religion,etc...never forget the words of Jesus himself, who when asked by the pharisees which commandment was most important, and to which he replied.."Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." That one statement, if realized, would solve a lot of problems today by those who think they know all about god's will, or that they have the right to pass judgement because they believe in jesus. We were also told to love our enemies, which tells me that whether or not god agrees with homosexuality, I am to treat a gay person with love and respect. Jesus also said that before we judge others, we are to look at ourselves and clean up our own lives, hence let he who is without sin throw the first stone. As far as the man claiming we can never know the mind of god, sorry, jesus knew the mind of god, and he states himself that all of the things he has done, you shall be able to do and more. God loves every one of us in this world, whether black, white, muslim, gay, etc...he has given us all free will to live our lives in the way we choose, even if we choose to deny him, and I consider that the ultimate example of god's love, so it is nobody's right to tell another how to live their life unless it harms another. Marching against abortion clinics, persecuting gays, does nothing but stand between them and a personal relationship with their creator, because lets think about it people, are these people really going to give a crap about god, the bible, etc, if his followers do these things? No they probably won't, and because of that you take away their chance at repentance, a chance to seek forgiveness, and to have a relationship with god. Jesus dined with harlots, romans, tax collectors, etc, and when asked he said, because these are the people that need saving. The only people he judged were the know it all zealots, who were doing silly things in the name of god, which is a lot of what religious protestors are doing now. I believe in god, but I would never dare claim to speak for him, or judge another of his creations because I am not perfect myself.

You have to think that the Deuteronomy 25:11-12 verse, about how a woman should have her hand cut off if she intervenes in a fight by grabbing the testicles of the man fighting her husband, is a situation that actually happened to the person who wrote the verse.

I mean, why else would anyone write that? In fact, that's what makes it so incredibly funny. You can just imagine this guy in ancient times who lost a fight with another guy, because the other guy's wife ran in at the last moment, just as he was getting the upper hand, and crushed his balls!

This is something he obviously wouldn't forget, so when he got the chance to write about it, he recommended that any woman doing this again should have her hand cut off without mercy. Hilarious, but very human, and nothing whatsoever to do with religion - at least, I hope it doesn't.

Hi Mortad, Eusebio, Dreams, Franklin and Isaac, etc

I want to believe in God - but like any decent person, I must keep an open mind in order to truly understand. Can you please rebutt any of Chucks comments with a proper analysis of what it means and/or why it is written in the bible? You all say they're taken out of context - so please help me understand the real context. Please explain what any of them mean, in context - or give me a reference to where they are explained (internet or published book preferably).

Is the old testament the word of God?
Is the new testament the word of God?
Does the old testament just tell me of the evil of the world, or does it really have a message?

I want to understand, but I understand by analysing facts. I really hope you can help me. If you are truly messengers of God then you will do your best to help me.

No jibes from the atheists please.

Man-made crap...

Religion teaches us to be morally responsible. The abuse of religion oppresses. Without religion, we cannot believe in the non-scientific concepts of justice, mercy, and compassion.

Government teaches us to be socially responsible. The abuse of government oppresses. Without government, we cannot trust, build, or work together in groups bigger than, what, 2?

Marriage teaches us to be familially responsible. The abuse of marriage oppresses. Without marriage men use sex only for entertainment and leave the cost and work of raising children to women.

Funny how Avery C. used the Internet, which wouldn't exist without religion, royalty, and marriage, to promote his disdain for religion, royalty, and marriage.

As for me, may the Lord save me from rational anarchy that seeks to avoid personal responsibility. But, for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

No one is sprouting wings and flying to the sky to spend eternity on a fluffy cloud. Religion is man-made crap just like royalty and marriage. It was fabricated to justify war and other perversions. All christians are brain-dead idiots and I am sick and tired of mainstream media and politicians using this book as a Morality Meter.

It seems that the author of this blog posted this only out of his own perversion and not out of any desire for Gods word to be know; are you a Christian if the motive of you heart is to causes lust to be inflamed in the hearts of saints?

I grow tired looking at these guys who loves to create distortion, fighting, and offensive arguments... If you guys doesn't want to believe the Word of God, at least stop making a pointless debate... Point at making peace and joy in this world and become blessing to all living being... It is not the nature of the human to fight each other. Only devil, who wants us to destroy each other out of revenge.

@Dino, well, unlike you, I never had such vision or any divine sign from God directly. But, I do believe in Him, love Him, with all that I am... And if you see anyone who seemed complained about God's wisdom, HAHAHA!! Ecclesiastes 3:11, NOT EVEN A SINGLE HUMAN CAN SEE THROUGH GOD'S WAY OF THINKING...

Also, about why there is good and evil? Surely to keep the balance of the world. World isn't paradise, those guys who complained about this actually have no right to complain.

Abput Ismael, well, the first, God do not like polygamy, and only told to Abraham to wait until Sara give birth to a child, a promised child. But, Abraham disobeyed His order and take hagar instead... Now, he reap what he sow... God never ordered Abraham to take hagar as his concubine...

Only a stupid naive little child who complain about why there's good and evil in this world

God is master of Xanatos Gambit. No matter what action taken by human and devil, it WILL NOT FAIL God's plan. It means that everything we did will always benefit God somehow... Read about xanatos gambit in tvtropes, then compare them to God's works.

My name is Dino, I am 16 years old, and I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I testify to you that I know that there is a God, for I have heard his voice. He is our father, and he loves us and wants us to grow and become like him. I testify to you that I know the Bible is the word of God, and that it is a true record and a testament of Jesus Christ. I also testify that God continues to speak to us today, and that any man, women, or child who studies the scriptures with real intent and asks God if they are true can receive their own personal testimony of their truthfulness. I know these things for myself because I have studied the scriptures and have asked God to reveal to me whether or not they are true, and he has answered my prayers, and I cannot deny it. This knowledge is something that cannot be obtained by any amount of debating or arguing, for instance, how many people have changed their minds because of the comments posted here? It can't be done, men can only gain a sure knowledge of whether or not God is real and what he wants us to do by asking him and receiving their own spiritual conformation of the truth. This is not all that has been revealed to me, I have received a witness of many other truths which are found in The Church of Jesus Christ, but I don't want to turn this into a debate about religions, I just wanted you all to know that I know the Bible is real. Sorry if I made anyone angry, I didn't mean to, but I couldn't just stand by and watch while something so important to me was being discussed. Thanks.
