A site called The Purification has created quite a bit of theories, but no answers (yet).

Someone posted a question asking what it was all about on Ask Metafilter two days ago and it’s amazing to see what they’ve been able to learn so far.

I’m guessing they’ll have a satisfactory answer within a few days.
