While chomping nerds I noticed that they were made by the Willy Wonka Candy Factory in Itasca, IL 60143. I loved the movie (with Gene Wilder) and wondered if the factory might be visible from Google Maps. Maybe it had been made to look like it did in the movie and was a tourist attraction.
I was disappointed to find nothing but a dull gray building.
hi i need to know the address to the willy wonka factory. please tell me it.

» Comment by sarah on April 18, 2007 @ 7:29 amI have always been a really big fan of the movie Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, and have always been curious as to whether or not there was a real chocolate factory.
» Comment by Kelsey on November 20, 2007 @ 7:46 pmI would really like for you to send a picture of the real Willy Wonka to me. I really would appreciate it.
» Comment by Kelsey on November 20, 2007 @ 7:49 pmI live about 5 minutes from the factory in Itasca, IL. It is just a building in an industrial park. There is a large sign saying ‘Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory’, but nothing else exciting. I do not think there is a store or anything open to the public. A few years ago I drove by the building and got the really great scent of sweet tarts filling the air!
» Comment by Mike on November 24, 2007 @ 8:38 pmThat’s too bad. They could make quite a bit of money by reproducing some of the things they had in the movie. I for one would love to have a swim in the chocolate like Augustus.
» Comment by dan on November 26, 2007 @ 8:36 pmI am a girl scout leader of 12 girls that would love a tour of your factory. Is that possible?
» Comment by Denise on February 7, 2008 @ 9:18 amWhere id the real Willy Wonka Factory?

I am doing a letter to the wonka factory for my school and I want to know what to say in the letter. DO you have any ideas of what to say? I’d be happy to tell you what theey say in they’re response if I get one…
» Comment by becca on March 4, 2008 @ 7:09 pmBecca: You’d know best what you want to say to them.
» Comment by dan on March 5, 2008 @ 9:16 amI would LOVE to inside the wonka factory. Can you please send me pictures of the factory. (inside and out.)I would also like to take a tour of the factory.
» Comment by Rachel on April 5, 2008 @ 4:35 pmRachel: I don’t have any pictures. If you take a tour take some pictures and I’ll post them here. I have a feeling it’s not like the movie.
» Comment by Dan on April 6, 2008 @ 1:38 pmSo did your wife ever tour the chocolate factory? Ironically I met someone whose brother dated your wife’s sister or perhaps it was her sister dated your wife’s brother. It was small world kind of funny.
» Comment by whaleman on April 7, 2008 @ 4:31 pmNope, at least as far as I know. It’s a small world…
» Comment by Dan on April 7, 2008 @ 4:50 pmI live a few minutes from there. Not as exciting as one would expect THE Willy Wonka factory to be. It’s in the middle of an industrial/commercial park. Not sure if you can tour it
» Comment by Jamie on July 5, 2008 @ 7:15 pm@Jamie Thanks for the information. I’m surprised they haven’t created some sort of tourist attraction there. I know I’d love to visit something half as sweet (pun intended) as what we saw in the movie!
» Comment by Dan on July 7, 2008 @ 9:07 ami love his chocolate yes i do
» Comment by samuel on July 16, 2008 @ 1:54 pmis it really a real factory that still runs and produces stuff? i wanna noe if this was based on a true story will might have a had a few twists.
» Comment by elizabeth on July 18, 2008 @ 7:43 pm@elizabeth As far as I know the factory is just another factory that makes candies, not anything related to the movie. I wouldn’t be surprised if the factory was created after the movie as a way to capitalize on its popularity.
» Comment by Dan on July 24, 2008 @ 12:43 pmMy dad is the owner of the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. I can get anyone in for free if I am able to meet them.
» Comment by Kandi on October 3, 2008 @ 7:23 pmoh and It’s not like the movie inside but it’s pretty close. Of course in the movie they addes Special Effects but I mean they did a pretty damn good job on the real thing. Oh and there really is a chocolate waterfall and a edible room too. The flavored wall isn’t there though. The elevator is glass and it does go to every room as well.
» Comment by Kandi on October 3, 2008 @ 7:28 pmim doing a project in school about willy wonka and if i could have any thing like pictures or info i would love that…
» Comment by gabi on November 23, 2008 @ 3:07 pmThis message is for KANDI. I used to work @ the wonka factory and there’s an employee there that i lost contact with. I was wondering if you could help me out. please contact me @ kjmalee@yahoo.com. I’d really appreciate it if you could help me.

» Comment by emma on January 26, 2009 @ 1:17 pmHi Dan – My son just had the exact same experience as you. He was eating the Nerds, etc. Did a web search and – nada. No I am not going to ask you for pictures of the factory
You have been more polite than I would with all the mis-directed posts! I seem to recall “Wonka” candy back in the ’70′s after the first movie came out. Don’t know why they wouldn’t want to capitalize on the theme park angle as well! Thanks for the site!
» Comment by Keaty on February 15, 2009 @ 7:40 pmKeaty: Thanks for the comment. It’s refreshing to hear from someone who understands I don’t have any pictures of it
» Comment by Dan on February 15, 2009 @ 9:35 pmi love willy wonka’s candy. i’ve never had a chocolate bar before.
» Comment by ella on May 2, 2009 @ 3:16 pmI’ll be going up to Illinois this summer around my Birthday to visit my grandparents, and we’re looking for something to do. I’ve been looking (almost) all my life for a site that might give me info on tours, public events, etc.
(Kandi, if your Dad is really owner, could you help a guy out? Please?)
» Comment by B-Day Boy on June 6, 2009 @ 7:57 amDoes Anyone actually know if there was a real boy named willy wonka?Or What His Real Name Was? I would love to know more about his real life story and how he really got started in the whole “Chocolate Business”
» Comment by susan on July 2, 2009 @ 8:35 pmThere is no willy Wonka. The book was not based on a real person. The movie, Willy Wonka and the chocolate Factory, was actually made to promote a chocolate bar, which ended up failing, but the movie was a success. The Wonka brand of candy, to my knowledge, doesn’t make chocolate, they make things like nerds, and sweetarts.

» Comment by Emma on November 2, 2009 @ 1:36 pmAnd…well I need samples to share with the class because if i dont i get a B and i want an A. I could buy them but I’m just waiting to find out if i actually can get samples. If “Kandi” really is related to the owner it would be nice if you could email me at fudgedude12@yahoo.com

I want to have a candy party for my daughter 6th birthday party and would really love to have it there..But Not sure if it’s open to the public for events. Would love to know I have called the number and no one has answered i’m thinking about taking a ride there to find out!
» Comment by Gianna on April 12, 2010 @ 12:51 pmNope, it’s just “a drab manufacturing building, not the chocolate wonderland portrayed in the movie.”
» Comment by Dan on April 12, 2010 @ 2:28 pmThat really sucks!!!! They should turn it into a place for people to go to that would be so FUN!! And it would make so much money! Oh well does anyone know of a candy factory store in the area for have parties at?? I really want to do that for my daughters birthday this year! Any help would be great Thanks

» Comment by bubble.gum.princess on June 12, 2010 @ 2:17 pmHi Dan, so I was just wondering if there was any kind of address you could give me, my 4 year old son just wrote a letter to willy wonka after watching a commercial for the new chocolate bars and he really wants to mail it to him. i was hoping to actually mail it to maybe their customer service or something like that and that maybe, i know its wishful thinking, but they might mail him back something, anything-a picture, a card, a damn coupon for all i care
but i would like to actually send it to someone…i know everyone’s bombarding you for pictures and such and i was on the website and did a search for the address..maybe you could help me out…thanks a lot!

» Comment by leslie on June 18, 2010 @ 2:11 pmyes I too would think they would make at least a torism part of it for everyone to see why dont they do that? that seems a little silly to make a movie and then have a factory to be plain and boreing. I would love to see a willy wonky factorty like the movie or close to it. I love chocolate and the movie was great too. maybe we should send them a pateion..
» Comment by mnm chick on July 4, 2010 @ 11:32 pmI want to know if Willy Wonka really exist? If the story in the movies or in the books are based on real life I love Willy Wonka thanks
» Comment by ERIKA on September 9, 2010 @ 9:54 amThere is a company that makes chocolate, but the movie took some liberties with reality.
» Comment by Dan on September 9, 2010 @ 9:56 amThey could also make a ton of cash by putting “golden”tickets in there chocolate bars with prizes!!
» Comment by munchies420 on September 9, 2010 @ 9:43 pmNo kidding. Anyone who watched the movie as a kid would be all over that.
» Comment by Dan on September 9, 2010 @ 9:45 pmThe movie was filmed at an industrial building somewhere in Germany. The real factory is nothing like the movie, but the edible room WAS real. Most edible items (like the flower Willy ate) were just plain wax. He even spit it out after the scene ended.
» Comment by oHai on September 10, 2010 @ 8:08 amWilly Wonka is my favorite person and i would like if he put golden tickets in the rapper and if i would have been like charlie and got a ticket i would be so happy.

Hi, is willy wonka a real person? Is the factory i saw in the movie real? What are you? A millionaire or billionaire or trillionaire? tell me. How old are you? how many people visit your factory a day?
» Comment by Mamadou on December 1, 2010 @ 3:25 pmHow many dollars does it take to get in the factory?
@Mamadou Nope, he’s not real.
» Comment by Dan on December 1, 2010 @ 4:05 pmCourse I’m real kids don’t believe these silly people who don’t believe in me, but I can’t stay in any one place at once or the evil doers would want to steal my scrummy recipies for my scrummy sweets.

“Nobody goes in and nobody ever comes out”
» Comment by Sandy on December 8, 2010 @ 6:44 amI never liked reading but this has shown me the importance of English class. There are so many repeated questions on this page it’s ridiculous. And apparent you guys haven’t heard of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, whose creativity is apparently being wasted.
Dan, you looked at a pack of nerds and somehow became the leading authority on everything Wonka, and for that, I feel sorry for you.
Also THERE ARE NO TOURS OF THE FACTORY
» Comment by Mike on December 9, 2010 @ 9:42 pm“WONKA®: Can I visit the Willy Wonka Candy Factory?
The Willy Wonka Candy Factory is dedicated to producing the highest quality candies that you would expect from Willy Wonka and Nestlé. Because of this commitment to quality, as well as safety, we do not provide public factory tours.”
http://www.nestleusa.com/PubFAQ/FAQs.aspx
The proof’s in the pudding that Wonka does not make.
@Mike At least someone reads the comments before commenting
I posted this four years ago and it’s still chugging along, all because of a box of nerds. Thanks for the link to their FAQ.
» Comment by Dan on December 9, 2010 @ 9:52 pm1. Your jokes suck almost as much as you do.
» Comment by Nan Black on December 21, 2010 @ 9:29 pm2.Changing from two jokes to only one, makes me mad. Kids have dreams of coming home from a rough day of first grade and amusing themselves with a FEW Laffy Taffy jokes, but no lets get all cheap and save money and only have one joke. You suck. This sucks.
I demand an immediate change in this matter before I take further legal actions.
Have a fantastic day Mr Wonka
@Nan That’s a lot of sucking.

» Comment by Chris on March 15, 2011 @ 7:23 pmHaha Dan holy cow man I feel sorry for you. Somehow your comment seemed to instantly attract the most ignorant group of people ever conceived. I was literally laughing out loud at the level of stupidity some comments generated and at one point was in near disbelief that a human being who actually knew how to function would ask some of the questions some of these people have, especially when you had just answered their very questions. What made it even greater was not once did you reply in anything but a civil manner. You never suggested that they go back to the first grade and learn to read. You always just calmly replied the answer to their questions. Dan I can definitely say this thread just made my day. Oh
Haha just kidding stay awesome man!
» Comment by Aaron on March 16, 2011 @ 9:35 pmbut just one question, could you send me some pictures of the factory? I’m sure you have an intimate relationship with Willy Wonka himself and could get me some photos of the chocolate room.
@Aaron Thanks for the comment, I got a good laugh
By the way I found out about a Wonka Golden Ticket promotion but it has already ended.
» Comment by Dan on March 17, 2011 @ 9:18 amHi, My name is, Derek. I was amazed when I have seen the, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (1971) Movie. I was -6 (Negative Six) years at the time. “LOL” But, with my expirence of observing the architecture and engineering characteristics including the 3D graphics in the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005) movie compared to the 1971 Movie, I’m not sure if anything equivalent could top the, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie. If I was able to win the State lottery in the county where I live in, along with my 4 year computer science degree I’m studying in school, I would be able to use the money and my skills to replicate the factory based on the movie, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” if, I was given copyright permission from their respective owners who made the, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie to do that. I then, would turn it into an actual factory tour theme park for everyone. (Golden Ticket not required to get in)
He, He, Ha, Ha!! Derek (03-21-2011)

» Comment by cherie on December 2, 2011 @ 2:48 pmIt is clearly a production facility built to produce foods… Normal facilities do not allow random visitors to stop by for a tour… It is against GMP’s (if you don’t know what GMP’s mean google it)
It any of those comments about pictures and other things are true.. wow..
and don’t meet up with random people on the internet.. that person is probably some creep who will kidnap people..
