I applied the patch he mentions in the <a href="http://www.arnebrachhold.de/2006/04/07/google-sitemaps-faq-sitemap-issues-errors-and-problems#P28_gen_slow" rel="nofollow">FAQ</a> but it didn't change the outcome. I don't think 1130 posts is all that many. Maybe I'll have to delve into the code and see what can be optimized. I just tried 3.0 beta and it had the exact same problem.
