upgrade to wordpress 2.0

I’ve been meaning to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress for a while now, and now that I did it, I’m impressed. During my hiatus from blogging while I focused on school, the WordPress developers were busily adding features and improving the code. Nice work guys! I also updated my dashboard replacement so it works with 2.0.x in case anyone wants to use it.

Comment spam continues to pour in at a rate of around 40 a day, but with the Akismet plugin it’s almost fun to see them waste their time trying to get spam on my site and being able to delete it all with the click of a single button. The new look of the administrative interface makes it feel like I’m using a whole new blogging application.

If there are any issues you notice as a result of the upgrade, please let me know. The only thing I’m aware of is that the plugin I was using to create a Google Sitemap was causing the web server to return a blank page whenever I saved a post. I’ve disabled it until I can find a solution to that problem. If anyone is aware of a plugin that works with the latest release of WordPress or of a fix to get the old version working, I’d love to hear about it.

Now that the administrative items are out of the way, I plan to return to a more frequent blogging schedule. I’m still fine tuning my daily schedule now, so we’ll see how it goes. I have a stockpile of over 50 drafts that I can draw on, so that should help.

I haven’t been reading any blogs for the past 8 or 9 months in addition to not posting, so I have a lot of catching up to do. It’s good to be back.
