I just heard about Protopage, which is a customizable desktop of sticky notes.

You can move, resize and add links or text to the notes and then save it and come back later. They’re promoting it as a start page, and it’s actually not a bad idea. It has the date and a little clock on the top right, and then you could add links for your daily visits and go there each day to begin browsing. You can also change the colors if you’re not a fan of green leaves and black.

I’m not going to use it for a start page because I already have my web site, but I signed up just to check it out and I’m impressed. You don’t even have to register to try it.

One negative is that it doesn’t work with Opera, so I only tested it in Firefox. One would assume it works in Internet Explorer.
