hardware identification on windows

I was helping someone with some computer problems recently and suggested they could benefit from an increase in RAM. Having not dealt with that computer before, I didn’t know what kind of RAM it needed and I didn’t want to have to open up the case to find out. In order to save myself some time, I looked online for something to help and found a slick program called CPU-Z. It displays all you want to know and more about your hardware, including motherboard type, processor, caches, memory type, what slots they’re in and a host of other information. A few weeks later I found a site with useful freeware, and coincidentally, the featured program of the month was none other than CPU-Z.

If you want to know what’s in your machine, it’s well worth the download.
