You can run MLS from two or more computers, just not at the same time.

I don't understand your wiki entry says that you can run MLS on two computers but another entry says no you can't it will corrupt the database. We want to run it on two machines with one used for finance and the other for membership records.(seperate parts of the database i assume) Is this possible?

Luis: Our ward has upgraded to 2.3.1 from 2.3 and there wasn't a single glitch. We haven't noticed any significant improvements either, but that's another issue ;)

I am a new Ward Clerk in my Ward that is having a quite an difficult time with MLS. I am having all sorts of issues as it appears like in November or early part of 2005 there was an MIS to MLS upgrade that left the Ward's data completely in shambles. I believe I have sorted much of it but it cost me many, many hours of manual labor to get it to what it is now. I am extremely fearful to upgrade to the latest 2.3.1 and lose all my work. Sure I can backup the DB but doesn't mean I will not have lots of work ahead of me anyway. I am looking to see if anyone has upgraded to the latest and have you had any issues and if you have how did you over come them.

Any useful info/tips you can provide will greatly appreciated.

Carlos: I believe the church is slowing rolling out MLS to different areas, so my guess is your area hasn't yet switched. The entire stake (or district) has to be switched at the same time, so it's not something you can do in the ward anyway.

You may want to ask the stake computer specialist about the upgrade to MLS. It's possible they've received the materials and haven't done it yet.

We got members's information or MIS from from SLC. Then we had to do the above 10 step to import FIS.

Thanks

Chris: I wasn't involved in the FIS and MIS migration to MLS, but from what I understand they backed everything up, then downloaded all the new information from church headquarters. I was going to say you may find more information on the Wiki, but it looks like it has been taken down.
