Google recently added a new feature that allows you to search for the definition of a word using “define:”. It also works for acronyms. For instance, a search for define:afaik would give you the meaning of the acronym AFAIK.

It’s a handy feature to have.

Wherever there are awards, there will be strong opinions on both sides of the fence regarding their value. The blogging world is no different, as evidenced by the fiascoes and debates about the 2003 Wizbang Weblog Awards. I’m of the opinion that the awards give people a chance to get a little recognition and it gives me a chance to find out about blogs I might enjoy reading. In other words, I like the idea. Here are some other types.

Those who dislike the awards and spend a whole lot of time writing about them.

Those who cheat for their favorite blog.

Those who remain silent about the awards altogether yet still manage to get loads of votes.

Those who plead with you to not vote for others, even if you don’t vote for them.

The last type has caused a bit of a competition between Kottke and Little Green Footballs. Someone fighting for LGF included a link to Alexa, proving that LGF had more traffic than Kottke and that made me curious about the amount of traffic other sites get, so I began putting in some URLs.
