exercising the brain

I’ve heard the brain is like muscle, and that with enough work you might be able to stave off Alzheimer’s disease or other common age-related problems. Research suggests reading, chess, scrabble or anything that stimulates your mind, while watching TV in large doses is discouraged. Below is a list of a few mental exercises I’ve located to pump up your brain.

The Mensa Workout
The Densa Quiz
Emode IQ test
Emode Brain Twister

  1. I like the DENSA quiz. I did pretty well.

  2. I heard a piece on All Things Considered a month or two ago that showed that people who had been doing crossword puzzles regularly throughout their life had more brain activity when they were older, and didn’t go senile as early.
