I have no problem with country. Levi's the one who cringes at the sound of it.

There's some music that I was wrapped up in at one time that I don't care for much now. Music has always been a staple in my life. During some bad times, I listened to some music that, while I could really relate to it at the time, I hear it now and think, 'Geez, how miserable!' That would include The Smiths/Morrissey and NIN. If that music is great on it's own, I couldn't judge anymroe. I associated it too much with negative times.

These days, my tastes run more upbeat and quite varied. Lots of classical, instrumental, Sting, 80s alternative and pop, plus some jazz, and even country (go ahead and cringe, ha!).

I got 90% on fun & simple and 78% on reflective and complex. I suppose if you were to take Dan and Levi and make them into one person, you'd have ME!

I could post a glowing defensive comment for Avril but I'm too lazy.

I saw that and took the test too. I got something like 83% on fun and simple and 15% on reflective and complex. That corroborates the vast dichotomy between our musical tastes.

Well, there wasn't a whole lot of talk about Avril one way or the other, but none of the support for her was exactly glowing. One person said at least she's a better role model than Britney, and another said she's got potential. The most telling 'defense' said, "cut her some slack, the songs are simple because she wrote them at sixteen!" Which is great and all, but that's an excuse, and I'd rather have good music than good excuses for mediocre music. For my particular definition of 'good', of course. ;)

Someone on that thread also posted a link to this test, which did a pretty good job in its analysis of me. My dislike of Avril can probably be explained by my score of 19% in the 'fun and simple' category and 84% in the 'reflective and complex' category.
