While debugging some Javascript code in Mozilla’s handy Javascript console, I got this error whenever I loaded a page from my site.
Warning: The stylesheet http://dan.hersam.com/css/white.css was loaded as CSS even though its MIME type, “text/plain”, is not “text/css”.
Some research revealed that apache uses a mime.types file which defines all of the types it knows about. If the type isn’t defined, it uses the DefaultType directive which is usually set to text/plain. To get rid of the error I simply had to add the following line.
text/css css
You can also add the following line to httpd.conf or your .htaccess file
AddType text/css css
It’s strange that the browser didn’t pay attention to the <link> tag in my page, which includes the type.

I had the very same question and have yet to find a completely satisfactory response. Some say it’s because the cinematography was so far ahead of its time. Others claim it was the engaging story.
My theory is that it has reached such a beloved status that no movie, no matter how good, can ever hope to compete. So many critics have praised it as the greatest film ever made that it’s virtually untouchable.

Because the man pictured on the dime is FD Roosevelt (11 characters) and his first name was Franklin (8 characters). Hah, I just made that up. There is no special significance to the number. When the dime was first minted in 1946 it had silver content, so ridges were added to keep people from shaving them off for silver. The ridges were of a certain width, and at that width, 118 fit around the rim of the dime.

I have used Alum, which hurt like the dickens and wasn’t all that effective. I also used Anbesol, a liquid anaesthetic, but it simply dulled the pain.
