While soaring through the air to grab the rim of a basketball hoop, my watch fell off. I picked it up and attempted to latch it but a pin had popped out. After crawling around on the floor for a few minutes, I found the pin. I fastened the band again but it was very loose, so I used needle nose plyers to bend the latch, but it broke off. I am very fond of the watch (as well as economizing), so I opted to replace the band.
I found a list of Casio watch bands but they didn’t have my watch. As instructed on the web site, I emailed them at 6:37am. At 7:27am I received a reply. The response was so fast I assumed it said they had received my email, but it was a reply from a real person informing me that they had a replacement band for that watch. It would cost $12.50 plus S/H and I could order it by phone. At 8:15am I ordered the band and I was told it should arrive in less than a week. I was also told to have a good Thanksgiving, which I plan to do.
Instead of going to a jewelry store to look through generic watch bands that don’t match the color of my watch I was able to find and order a Casio replacement band in less than two hours. Bob Dylan was right, the times, they are a-changin’.
I just stopped using my Telememo 300 last April but I have been a fan of them for 8 years now; started when they only held 50 names/appts. I always had the black one so the plastic bands would wear out about once each year. Most malls have a specialty kiosk that carries brand name watch bands so that is where I would go.
I’ve gone with an analog watch with titanium band now and I love it. It makes me look like less of a geek according to my wife.
» Comment by Rick on November 26, 2002 @ 3:13 pmI’ve been a big fan of digital watches and even had one that would dial the phone for you (just had to hold it up to the receiver). I agree that it makes me look like a geek, especially when I use the calculator, but since I’m not married, it doesn’t matter. Although, it’s possible that the reason I’m not married is because I look too much like a geek. Maybe I should try wearing an analog watch for a while.
» Comment by dan on November 26, 2002 @ 3:30 pmI used to be a digital watch guy. I switched to analog on my mission because I thought my digital watch looked a bit tacky with my suit. I wasn’t giving up a whole lot, since I never had a digital watch with a calculator or phone dialer. And after my switch, I never had to worry about alarms going off at inopportune moments. And now, with a classy titanium watch, all the girls want me. Or something like that… I get compliments from them on it, at least. Go analog! It’s retro-cool, high class, and sophisticated! Chicks dig it!
