citizen kane at long last

I had an assignment to watch Citizen Kane in a film and theatre class I had. For some reason I didn’t see the movie when it was shown for the class, but I was given credit for seeing it under the agreement that I would watch it on my own. Alas, that was more than three years ago, but I finally watched it last night. I have a hard time with the idea that it is one of the best movies of all time. It was a decent movie but I just don’t get why people made such a big deal about it. It’s like Mona Lisa and Van Gogh’s Starry Night. What makes them so dang popular instead of some other artist’s rendition of a similar topic? I’m sure there are reasons, I just didn’t see them so if any film critics are reading this, please “film-e” in. Pun intended ;)
